03 - Gironella

The "Gironella BTT" is a combination of trails and tracks in the area of ​​Baix Berguedà. We will encounter a typical landscape of these regions that we will experience on two wheels, through a very fun route.

Berguedà is one of the richest mycological areas in Catalonia. If the season is good and we have had a somewhat rainy summer, September and October can be very favorable months for mushroom picking. If we decide to do this route during these dates, we could be surprised to find a good basket for dinner, always out of respect for nature and the animals that graze around.

Olvan and Cal Rosal are excellent refreshment points, often visited by groups of cyclists who gather there at weekends. Specifically, in Cal Rosal, we can find the Mushroom Market, normally open from September to November. But the route does not end here. After crossing the Llobregat river via the Pont d'Orniu, a stone construction dating from the 14th century, we arrive at the old road that linked Berga with the plain of Osona, passing through Prats de Lluçanès.

From this bridge, we climb up to the pre-Romanesque church of Sant Vicenç d'Obiols. A stop to observe it from the outside is mandatory. A few meters from the church we find the Font de Sant Vicenç d'Obiols, known for its fresh and natural water, which has been used by the neighbors for many years.

This shady spot becomes a perfect resting point before returning to the village of Gironella and closing this fun round.
