01 - La Casserrenca

Berguedà offers paths and trails of high quality that it has become the venue for championships in Catalonia and Spain. Clubs, organizations and a very powerful human group have been clearing the roads for years. In Casserres, the starting point of this route, a group of people passionate about mountains and cycling have been part of it, and a few years ago they started organizing "La Casserrenca".

The route we present here is the simple version. We are sure that it will not leave you indifferent, and for this reason, if you want more, you will find longer and more difficult options on its website of the same name. Thus, although it is not a very long route, a certain technique is recommended to carry it out safely, especially on the sections of the trail, some pedaled during some championship in Catalonia.

We therefore find ourselves with a route that runs through the pine and oak forests, so characteristic of the Baix Berguedà, as well as through more agricultural areas. To sum it up in a few words, it's a real "leg breaker". Even so, the town of Casserres offers several options to celebrate the effort, from a good piece of cake in one of the town's ovens to a menu of home-cooked food or a sandwich with local products. The effort will have been worth it!

If you want to make a stop during the route, it is highly recommended to detour a little to visit the bauma de les Set Portes, a cavity located inside a rocky, sandy wall, about fifty meters long, and which seems to have been inhabited until the middle of the 20th century. It is known that, in times of war, it served as a hiding place and, during the Carline Wars, as a prison. It can also be visited once the route is finished, if you follow the Fonts trail, which leaves from the soccer field. A real trip to the past!
