Cal Marçal is a textile colony with its own character and life. Today, there is still a coming and going of passers-by, farmers, truck drivers and cyclists who use it as a meeting point. So, it is no coincidence that the oldest mountain bike race in the region is the "Raid Cal Marçal", with more than 30 years of history, organized by the Cal Marçal Neighbors Association.
The route presented here is a version of this legendary race, which combines tracks and trails, where the Llobregat River is the main backbone. The twists, small climbs and steep descents through the forest make it very easy to get disoriented as you enter a world of silence.
Although much of the route runs through the forest, it is worth stopping at the ruins of the Merola Castle, also known as the Merola Tower, documented since 983. Perhaps it can also become the perfect excuse to stop for a bite to eat. Thanks to its restoration, there is an adjacent structure that allows access to the top of the tower, where a viewpoint offers spectacular views of the Baix Berguedà, the same as it had when it was a watchtower.
An excellent mountain bike route to get to know the southernmost part of the region.
