La Creueta i la Collada

Guardiola de Berguedà-Castellar de n’Hug-Coll de la Creueta-Collada de Toses-Campdevànol-Gombrèn-La Pobla de Lillet-Guardiola de Berguedà

It is one of the most mountainous and highest routes in the region. The route allows you to get to know three of the most charismatic mountain passes in the area: the Coll de la Crueta -Berguedà-, the Collada de Toses -Ripollès- and the Coll de Merolla and unite the two Pyrenean counties in a route that can extend as long as we want depending on the stops we want to make to enjoy the landscapes that surround us.

In 2017, a cycling tour called "Els 4 cims" ( The four Peaks) was launched with departure and arrival from Guardiola de Berguedà which, as the name suggests, added a fourth pass to the collection: the coll de Pal pass. The cycle tourist, however, also foresees two smaller routes: the "two peaks" that excludes the Toses pass and the Pal pass; and the “three peaks” which partially coincides with the route we propose here -without reaching Alp-.

Description

The route starts in the square of  Guardiola de Berguedà church, from where we leave on the B-402 in the direction of Pobla de Lillet, going up gently along the side of the Llobregat river. We will cross the town and, at the exit, we will take the BV-4031 in the direction of Castellar de n'Hug where we will begin a long and constant climb that will take us to the Col de la Creueta (1940 meters) in 20 Km and 1000 meters of altitude difference. You must be aware of the length of the climb and take an appropriate pace.

Approximately half way we will find the village of Castellar de n'Hug where we can take a break and stock up on food and drinks if we need them.

Once the pass is done, we follow thru a small descent and then the climb that will take us to crown the Pedró pass where we will turn right along the GI-400 road and in just over 3 km we will reach the Collada de Tosses. We will follow the N-260 in the direction of Ribes de Freser in a descent of almost 25 km to this town passing through several mountain villages.

Once here, we will continue in a southerly direction, along the same N-260 until Campdevànol where we will turn right onto the GI-401 in the direction of Gombrèn. Here we start the last climb of the day: a climb of about 15 km without too much difficulty that will take us to the top of the Merolla pass.

Once at the pass, all you have to do is descend to La Pobla de Lillet and undo the section we did at the beginning to return to Guardiola de Berguedà, the final point of the itinerary.
