Routes and network of footpaths

Volta La Llacuna

The flat relief of Vallcebre contrasts with the plain of the syncline that proposes to cross this route. An easy and flat walk, through bridges and paths that come from ancient times as some sections still have cobblestone, and that connect farms, huts, trumpets, fountains, etc. Indicating elements of the agricultural past much more recent than the lagoon that used to occupy this area in ancient times and gives it its name.
The QR code that you will find in these indicators, will link you to the application "Camins de Vallcebre", to know historical, natural and landscape aspects of this route.

Description
The route starts at Plaça de l'Església, from where you have to follow the street that runs along the rectory until you find the Cal Teixidor laundry, recently recovered as part of a local project. Shortly afterwards, you have to leave the paved road and continue on the stepped path marked PR, which will take you to the Romanesque bridge of Cal Xalet. Once the stream has crossed this ancient bridge with indications of having been built between the 12th and 13th centuries, it is necessary to climb gently up the carriageway delimited by dry stone walls, either to support the same road or the surrounding beams. until you find the paved road that you have to take to the left.

In front of the Cal Rodó farmhouse, you can divert about 200m to get closer to the remains of the Cal Xic gypsum kiln. After returning, follow the yellow markings to Cal Xic, where you will leave the paved road to continue on the left along a concrete path. 100 meters away you have to turn left and follow the carriage path from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Sierra del Cadí and the Moixeró, Ensija ... During the route you will find several trumpeters where they kept the potatoes or trumpets - all identified with a small plate -. As well as the small house of light that housed a turbine that you have to make Xic, it was one of the first houses outside the town of Vallcebre that had electricity.

If you need water once you find the PR again, you can go to the Font del Serrat, which usually has a good stream, if you follow the path of Sant Ramon about 100 m. Returning to the crossroads, follow the PR for only a hundred meters and then continue on towards La Laguna. Along the way you will also find the Font de la Teula (much smaller than the previous one). Further you will pass through the Barraca de Puig de Dacs and then cross the area of badlands or badges. You will then find a fork in case you want to approach the landslide, a collapse of earth and rocks on a mountain slope that ends in an abrupt relief. Once you have passed the Pere Pauló hut, you will finally reach La Laguna. Extensive wet plains, but as the name implies it had been a lagoon, which over time, the surrounding materials have filled up to completely dry and dry. From here, the path begins to descend and again leads you to a growing area and cultivation areas. Halfway you will still find a deviation if you want to approach another source, the Fonteta, as well as the trumfera of Cal Pera Paló and the hut of Cal Masoveret.

Once you have arrived at a farmhouse, La Carrera, go down to the right passing the house and the next one, Cal Toni a few meters further on until you reach a new junction of tracks and paths. From here the yellow markings on the road network will guide you now until the end of the route. You have to follow the paved rural road to the left to cross the stream over the Cal Toni bridge, where if you have a bit of fun you can see the structure of the bridges built at different times according to the needs, one on top of the other. A few meters later you will leave the track and continue on the old horseshoe path on the left. The path goes into a cool oak grove and you can still climb some cobbled sections, reminiscent of the medieval origin of this path. You pass by the Cal Ramon Forat, a hole at the foot of a dry stone wall, used to store tools. And continue straight up past the Font Xaleta just before returning to the village of Vallcebre.
