Cycling Mountains

The roads of Berguedà are rich in contents because in a single cycling day you can talk to Picasso and Pogacar, observe dinosaurs and coal mines, refresh yourself in the Llobregat or the Riera de Merlès, and taste the suffering of what is probably the hardest port in Catalonia, the Coll de Pradell. But the best thing about everything is the quality of the roads opened in a timeless environment, and especially discovering the people. Because pedaling along the roads of Berguedà is synonymous with discovering small towns and industrial colonies where you can stock up on supplies, have a coffee or have a snack.

We propose different routes that follow Berguedà from north to south and from east to west. They are liquid routes in the sense that you find here just an invitation to discover the territory because each of these tours offers alternatives, new roads, roads or extensions. In any case, the construction of the C16 divided the region from south to north but, in a rebellious act, the cycling Berguedà found a solution to what seemed like an incurable scar. The old roads that connect the different towns have become almost deserted, they have become a cyclist's paradise. If you now add that many old rural roads are paved, you will find a map of roads and arteries to pedal in an infinitely easy way.

With this ecosystem, the local cycling community is spoiled for choice. There are short and classic routes, like the “Volta gran”, in which little is much. It is the solution for those afternoons with little time to go cycling but when you want to go up, down, ride safely and push yourself to the maximum. If you have more hours, the “Volta al cobert” takes you back to the first great outings of adolescence by rediscovering the Berguedà east. With the “Catllaràs ” route a new world opens up, harder and more demanding, but overall, bucolic. The “Mining Route” and the stage of the “Volta a Catalunya 2024” make you feel like a professional with chains of hidden ports, as if you were in the middle of the Pyrenees or the Alps.

This is the great secret that Berguedà keeps. You can explain it or keep it for yourself, it doesn't depend on us!
